Thinktank and Future Leader Forums

The Talent Management Thinktank and Future Leader Forums are unique. Why?

Things to consider

  • The Thinktank is made up of 8-10 companies (maximum per year) who have a similar level of sophistication in terms of talent approaches.
  • The Thinktank ‘professionals’ who attend the meetings, are those charged with developing and managing talent within the businesses.
  • Each Thinktank member proactively participates in driving the agenda and sharing knowledge and information to other colleagues at the table.
  • Confidentiality is paramount -there are no competitor companies involved to ensure an open environment exists for people to share information.
  • The Thinktank has a dedicated ‘secure on line portal’ which enables everyone to share strategies, tools, online resources, research, articles etc.
  • Costs relating to participating in the Future Leader Forum are discussed and agreed on by the Thinktank.

Companies that participate in the Thinktank, also have the opportunity to have high potential leaders attend the Future Leader Forums run 3 times a year in Sydney (Dockside, Cockle Bay)

  • The Thinktank members are those who determine the Future Leader Forum topics, speakers and content to ensure alignment to business goals.
  • Each company selects 15 of their ‘high potential people’ (guide - 2 levels down from CEO) to attend Future Leader Forums held 3 times per year.
  • Forums participants are ONLY from the companies involved in the Thinktank - they are not open to other businesses to attend.
  • Each group of participants gets the opportunity to ‘formally’ connect with senior leaders from other businesses to build relationships.
  • Thinktank members create opportunities for Forum participants to take information back into their business and utilise.

About Future Leader Forum Participants

Seniority of participants is based on 2-3 levels down from the CEO. Across the various companies this equates to senior leaders with the potential to move 1-2 positions leading to a senior director / VP role (needless to say titles differ across each company). Typically they have one or multiple business unit responsibility with financial and strategic accountability. Companies also use these forums as retention tools for those in the ‘mastery’ group, or perhaps for fast tracking Emerging Talent leaders.

Funding has been determined by the Thinktank itself to ensure equity. For further information relating to participation in the Thinktank for 2012, please contact Kerry Thiedeke.
